Benedict Cumberbatch is one suave wolf. Because of course he is. | Dearest Geeks of EarthThe word “fox” comes to mind more than “wolf” when talking all things Benedict and his Cumberbatch, but for this upcoming role, it’s pretty much the latter.

No, really.

The Sherlock star will lend his mellifluous voice to Classified, a dashing James Bond-ish wolf with an impressive set of eyebrows (that throw serious shade at Robert Pattinson), in the latest DreamWorks movie, The Penguins of Madagascar.

Revolving around Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private, otherwise known as the most hilarious birds in the global espionage game, the movie will reveal their secrets as they join forces with a covert animal-protection organization, North Wind, led by Agent Classified.

The other agents on his team – an explosives expert seal named Short Fuse (Ken Jeong); an intelligence analyst snow owl named Eva (Annet Mahendru); and a hulking Norwegian bear named Corporal (Peter Stormare), who wants to love on his four new penguin friends all the time – will work together to stop the villainous Dr. Octavius Brine (voiced by John Malkovich), from taking over the world. Because no one breaks the Wind. That’s their motto. Honest.

As for preparing for the role, Cumberbatch was of course fully committed.

“I worked in Yellowstone park as a wolf for awhile,” he joked during a DreamWorks panel at San Diego Comic Con, his first appearance ever at the multi-genre convention.

“I was accepted by the pack quite quickly. It got a bit hairy, no pun intended, when I became the alpha male. In about a month or two, I realized that two of the other wolves were Christian Bale and Daniel Day-Lewis.”

Oh, Benedict.

The Penguins of Madagascar hits theaters on November 26.
