And since making magic is kind of Disney’s thing, an anniversary spectacular dubbed “Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration,” will treat guests to three new shows and deck out Sleeping Beauty Castle in diamond decorations.
Here’s what guests can expect to experience when the celebration starts on May 22, 2015:
“World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” Nighttime Spectacular
Mickey Mouse will illuminate the night as he takes guests on an inspirational journey through the unparalleled imagination of Walt Disney, exploring his decades-long legacy of memorable animated moments and his dream of Disneyland in a first-of-its-kind contemporary spectacular. Think live-action footage, animated imagery, fountains, lasers, special effects and a soaring musical score.
“Paint the Night” Parade
This new, state-of-the-art parade will bring Disney’s most beloved stories to life as Mickey Mouse harnesses the power of Tinker Bell’s pixie dust to “paint the night” with Disney dreams-turned innovative floats. Characters from Monsters Inc., Cars, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, Frozen and more will brighten up Main Street U.S.A. with vibrant costumes, dazzling special effects, unforgettable music, and more than 1.5 million brilliant LED lights.
“Disneyland Forever” Fireworks
Sparkling pyrotechnics, immersive projections, the largest installation of projection mapping technology ever seen at a Disney Park – it’s all part of a brand new fireworks spectacular that will take guests on a breathtaking journey through a world of dreams. Get ready to fly above Peter Pan‘s London skyline, dance with The Jungle Book‘s King Louie, see classic scenes projected onto Main Street U.S.A., its a small world, Rivers of America and Matterhorn; and be swept away by two original songs, “Live the Magic,” (theme) and “Kiss Goodnight” (closing song), both written by Disney Legend Richard Sherman.
Sleeping Beauty Castle and Carthay Circle Overlay
While the entire resort will sparkle diamond decor and festive banners in hues of Disneyland blue, its crowning jewels, Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland park and Carthay Circle Theatre in Disney California Adventure park will also glisten and gleam, each with its own diamond medallion featuring the letter “D.”
