Oregon Trail is back and ready to traumatize a whole new generation of gamers. | Dearest Geeks of EarthFording the river, squirrel hunting, shooting eleventy mabillion more pounds of meat than you could actually carry, dying from typhoid/dysentery/cholera/snakebite, breaking limbs at random, writing epitaphs as a third grader, learning general pioneer speak while trekking across the open plains – Oregon Trail, the cold-blooded game that traumatized countless North American schoolchildren throughout the 80s and 90s is back.

We still have pixelated flashlights.

Thanks to The Internet Archive it’s now available to play online for free, along with 2,400 other classic MS-DOS games like Street Fighter, Carmen Sandiego, Donkey Kong, Burger Blaster, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Lion King, and Chuck Yeager’s Advanced Flight Trainer.

So who else is ready to kick grandma off the covered wagon to make the most of that limited water supply?
