Vision boards are made of a special kind of win.
Think of them as a daydream roadmap-turned-inspiring installation, or, depending on your mood, a sage cureall for what ails you.
They really do work when it comes to discovering your destiny, and the reason why is pretty simple.
Creating a tangible space that captures what you want on a soul level really brings your hopes and dreams to technicolored life. Seeing is believing, and being able to illustrate, and thereby, visualize our goals allows for focus. A catalyst for action.
Visualization, which is basically the funky kid sister of meditation, helps us launch our feelings into the ether. And vision boards help us channel how we want to feel, how we want to be present, and how we want that good vibery to translate into lifetime takeaways.
So how do you explain that to kids?
Just encourage them to get creative while chasing their dreams.
They’re all about imagination and visualization already, making vision boards a natural extension to their unfettered energies flinging glitter all over the cosmos.
Keeping them focused and goal-oriented however, can be a little tricky. Life is distracting, and there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s just why a vision board filled with their own words, photos, tchotchkes, mementos and amazing personal touches can really give their plans dimension and weight, while giving them the power to push their own limits.
Fellow Stream Team member, Kelly Ladd Sanchez, came up with an easy-to-replicate vision board craft just for kids that celebrates the all-new original Netflix special, Ever After High: Spring Unsprung, which follows the lives of the children of our favorite fairytale characters as they decide whether or not they want to follow in their parents’ fairytale footsteps. Get her tutorial here.
The story of our lives isn’t written in permanent ink.
You have the power to create your own destiny.
How do you inspire your kids to follow their dreams?
